I would do that, a level in fighter for archery fighting style, shield proficiency so you can have a shield on your melee set and get the AC boost even when you have crossbows out, and second wind (which scales off character level in BG3 rather than fighter level). BG3 doesn't have that (it was removed in EA, iirc), giving the upside of the Bow to the Crossbow, but keeping the damage disparity between the two weapon types the same.
